Glendale Unified School District and Glendale High School have proudly partnered with Glendale Community College to offer the CLOUD Computing and Computer Science Academy as a pathway for GUSD students to earn transferable college credits (CSU/UC), A-G credits and a possible CLOUD Computing Certification from Amazon Web Services.
 
WHAT IS THE CLOUD COMPUTING & COMPUTER SCIENCE ACADEMY? The Cloud Computing & Computer Science Academy is designed to prepare students for computer science related fields. Students will take rigorous college credit courses based on the Amazon Web Services curriculum framework in cloud computing as part of the high school schedule. 

WHY JOIN THE CLOUD COMPUTING & COMPUTER SCIENCE ACADEMY? There is no other computer science program in GUSD which offers college classes and Amazon certification in high school. Students earn college credits, meet A-G requirements, and can be certificated in Cloud Computing before graduating from high school. Students then have career or pathway choices to continue on to the workforce or college/university.

WHERE AND WHEN DO THE CLASSES TAKE PLACE? Classes take place at Glendale High School during the instructional school day. Students enrolled in the program will take one Computer Science elective class each semester beginning in tenth grade and continuing through the end of senior year with the culmination  Amazon Web Services certification test.

WHAT TYPE OF STUDENT SHOULD CONSIDER JOINING THE CLOUD COMPUTING & COMPUTER SCIENCE ACADEMY? All GUSD students are invited to join the CLOUD Academy. Students who join the academy often enjoy math and engineering/robotics/coding and choose on a career pathway in CLOUD Computing or continue on to college/university on an Engineering or Computer Science pathway. 

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST? The program is offered at no cost to students and families. GCC enrollment costs, tuition, fees and textbooks are included in the program at no cost.

HOW DOES A STUDENT JOIN THE CLOUD COMPUTING & COMPUTER SCIENCE ACADEMY?  9th grade students are invited to participate in a high school computer science elective course. During the 9th grade, students will be offered informational sessions about the program in their CS elective class and invited to fill out an application for the program beginning in the spring of their freshmen year.  Presentations will also be made in CS elective classes during Back To School Night and at a spring Parent Meeting.
